When it comes to good pots, the most important consideration is their thermal behavior. And because aluminum conducts heat quickly and distributes it evenly, WMF pots feature the TransTherm®-universal base, consisting of a thick aluminum core encapsulated in a chromium steel exterior. This protects the aluminum core from aggressive detergents and prevents food residue from sticking to the outside of the pot, making it easy to clean.
The TransTherm®-universal base is suitable for all types of stove, including induction hobs, as the chromium steel used in the capsule is magnetic. For optimum energy efficiency, the pot and hotplate should be approximately the same diameter.
Pots with the TransTherm®-universal base are extremely energy efficient. The base is cambered during manufacture, giving it a slight inward curvature. When the pot heats up, the base expands so that it is on a level with the hotplate. This guarantees its stability and prevents energy loss. The thickness of the base determines the amount of heat that is conducted and stored. The TransTherm®-universal base is the ideal thickness to ensure the perfect balance between thermal storage and heat conduction. The residual heat stored keeps food warm for longer.
